No hassle.....just regular social hockey

The TVC...Who are we ?

The TVC is a social hockey Conference for clubs in the Thames Valley area.

Now in it's tenth year, the 'Thames Valley' is a way of guaranteeing a full season of friendly hockey fixtures without resorting to uncertainty of the Emergency Fixtures every week. There are many Vets and Lower XI's who just want competitive hockey, with a good social element. The Thames Valley Conference provides this with minimal pressure on overworked Fixture Secretaries and Team Captains.

The benefits are :

  • Takes the grind out of fixture organisation.
  • Local clubs means less travelling.
  • No points, no need to phone in results, just friendly, regular, guaranteed hockey ..... And socialising.
  • Team of the Year Trophy presented each season to the best team (on the pitch and in the bar) as voted for by all participating teams.
  • Internal 'emergency fixture' contact should a cancellation occur.

TVC Introduction

As we've said, the 'TVC' is a way of guaranteeing a full season of friendly hockey fixtures without resorting to uncertainty of the Emergency Fixtures every week.

How is the 'League' run ?.

  • By an Organising Committee compiling of representatives of 3 member clubs.
  • Fixtures issued in June before season start.
  • Annual contact list provided with names, numbers, e-mail addresses, club colours etc.
  • Teams play each other Home and Away. The team representatives contact each other 2 weeks before the fixture to confirm arrangements.
  • Where possible, umpire to be provided from each side. (official or player)
  • Short of players?. Should you cancel ?. .....ring the opposition and see if the sides can be evened out.

Playing hockey is the name of the game. To get games on, member clubs will 'even' sides out if the opposition are short, agree to one umpire, and even sort out triangular games if one team does not have an opposition!. Teams can also field the odd Colt which helps the fixture, and also helps them find their feet before going up the club.

Emergency Fixtures Contact

Sadly, in a league or not, sometimes games are cancelled. The Conference provides an Emergency Fixtures contact to help overcome this. We have contacts with others 'leagues' to ensure you have the best chance to play every week.

Team of the Year

At the end of every season, member clubs vote for their Team of the Year.

This is the team who were the best on the pitch.....and in the bar. The Trophy is presented to the 'new' winners by the previous winners at the first match of the new season.

The role of honour so far is found under the Team of the page.
