Cameron was nominated by C&F goalkeeping coach and Men’s 2nd XI goalkeeper, Jamie McDermott: “Cameron was top of his group in his JDC county trials and has become the first ever County goalkeeper for Camberley and Farnborough Hockey Club.

“It has been a very quick journey for him since he joined the club two years ago. As his coach I have watched Cameron improve very quickly – so much so, I felt he would be perfect for Men’s hockey. Putting him forward for trials was the obvious choice.

“We always knew he had bags of potential and has shown his skills week in, week out, both at training and over the summer when he played for the winning team in a Woking 7-a-side tournament against Senior players. Playing at such a high standard has given Cameron the confidence to play as an adult keeper.

“We all wish him the best of luck. He has a mature head on young shoulders and I believe he has the potential to go on to great things.”

Cameron is just one of a handful of Colts players who has been mentored through the club and was nominated to attend an England Hockey JDC (Junior Development Centres).

Colts Chairman Martin Aldrich says this year is proving to be a record season for Colts attendance: “Our Club Day attracted more than 90 youngsters and many of them have continued to attend our Sunday morning training sessions. There are many promising youngsters who could go on to do really well through schemes such as the JDC and we’re hoping that Cameron is blazing a trail for many more Camberley and Farnborough youngsters to follow. Good luck to him.”
