Camberley & Farnborough Men’s 2nd XI 2011/12

This year the 2nd XI have a point to prove.
“With a new skipper, new players and a monumental amount of drive and determination anything is possible!!”
Last season was all about fighting to stay up and pulling out wins when it counted. The team finished 8th out of 12 teams. Spending most of the first half dead last! However, with a severe kick up the backside we managed to win the first 4 games of the second half of the season, (Bearing in mind that these first four games were the top four teams in the league!!!!) proving this team has the tools for success.
Leading the team out this season from between the goal posts is new skipper Jamie McDermott, to who had a great first season for C & F. The team awarded him player of the season, with colt Matt Aldrich receiving most improved player for his performances on the wing.
Helping the new skipper is former 3rd XI captain and new Chairman Colin Forsyth. As vice captain he will provide experience and strength from the back.
This year has seen some new faces in the team; Elliott a confident young midfielder, Doug a man of many talents in midfield and defence, Rob Owen a solid defender but with a bullet of a strike, as this skipper knows first hand with the several bruises already! And Jon Maguire a seasoned midfielder with many a trick up his sleeve!
Running the midfield will be Pat Youvell and Dave Flaherty, providing fast movement and deadly accurate passing, to Adam Wilkins & Matt Aldrich, who are waiting to ‘unleash the fury’ up front!
The team feels it’sĀ our time! So bring on the season, the new Camberley and Farnborough 2nd XI are coming!!
As always the club is looking for new players and umpires if you fancy a game contact the skipper or any of the captains.
