As the first game on the pitch, a rallying cry was sent out to the 2s to get down early and make the most of a proper warm-up (unlike last week!). Denny even managed to get in a pre-9am shout for DoD by asking what colour we play in (although this would soon be forgotten...).
After our lengthy warm-up (with repeated questions of 'how long before we start?') the game began with the pushback for Camberley and plenty of early possession as Woking stood off and allowed multiple transfers and probing line balls. A counter from Woking saw Kelan's fantastic goal-line clearance, followed by several great saves from Josh and some hard tackles by Pies to prevent Woking from getting on the score sheet. Play ebbed and flowed for a short while before Major Tom gave away a short corner for an initially innocuous-looking tackle on the edge of the D by the baseline. Following a chat between the umpires, this was upgraded to a P-flick and a yellow for Tom. Despite the practice we seem to be giving Josh for the last few weeks, he could not make the save and Camberley went into halftime 1-0 down.
Standard halftime chat, 'keep possession, simple passes, make leads etc.' and Camberley came out hard. The talk seemed to have worked and following their early pressure Camberley won a P-flick of their own. Pies stepped up to take it (although it turned out later he was intending to simply pick the ball up to hand to Joe!) and unfortunately, the keeper guessed correctly and made a strong save down to his left. The 2s switched off for a moment following this and Woking doubled their tally which resulted in some dropped heads and more pressure from Woking. A short corner conceded by Camberley soon became the third P-Flick of the game when the initial drag was slammed into Jamie's shoulder on the left post. Woking showed Pies how it should be done and scored before they were reduced to 10 men for kicking the ball away after a foul and resulting chat back to the umpire. Camberley looked for a way back into the game but were soon undone by a back-to-strength Woking who scored two quick goals. Heading into the final 10 minutes, it was Camberley's turn to see yellow after Jamie's sliding pick caused a dangerous situation for one of the Woking players who was upended. The storm was weathered and the final whistle came with Camberley on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline.
MOM went to Kelan (or was it Felan, or Keling, or Kelen...) for being generally outstanding. DOD went to Major Tom for conceeding his 3rd P-Flick in as many weeks.
Thanks to Pete and Colin for umpiring, and for the supporters on the sidelines (especially for capturing Pies' P-flick miss for prosperity).
